Communication

  • North Oakland, California (map)

Everything in this series builds to this session. The truth is, most intimate conversations aren't rational — they're emotional. And poorly executed.

Rationality, tone of voice, verbal precision — none of that matters if the content of what we're saying is still mean, manipulative, or placating. Developed over 15 years of practice, The Rules of Engagement is a framework for moving through conflict, repairing after rupture, and expressing vulnerability — our needs, desires, and limits. In this session we practice the building blocks of emotion-centered communication.

Relational conversations don't need to be effective. They need to be connecting, reparative, capable of generating empathy and real understanding.

This session is part of The Pleasure Ethic Conversations, a four-part cohort series on Relational Literacy.
